Camera Bags

       

There are a lot of camera bags on the market but I couldn’t find one that met my requirements so I designed one. I wanted a minimalist bag for my small cameras. I've wanted to offer a camera bag here at gordy's camera straps for a while, but only recently did we find the materials and have the capability to make them ourselves. Like our straps, we make a simple, useful and durable bag. These bags can be used as a camera bag with the addition of a neck strap, or used as a pouch without a strap. These bags are vegan and we’ve sourced material to gently impact the planet. We offer 2 sizes, large (12 1/4” x 7 1/2” (31cm x19cm) and small (8 1/2” x 5” 21(5cm x13cm). They come in five colors.

The large bag has two chambers and can hold a small digital or film SLR, and three compact lenses. The small bag only has one chamber and can hold a digital Olympus Pen with a pancake lens or a point and shoot film camera. The small bag is also useful for many small accessories like filters, lens cleaning pens and wipes.

The outside of the bag is made of waxed canvas. The waxed canvas is from Halley Stevensons which was established in 1864 in Dundee, Scotland. They pioneered the development of waxed cotton, with their first patent being awarded in 1910 for “cleaning and water-proofing textiles”. They put all their products through a rigorous quality and performance testing process. Their fabrics are breathable, and the wax adjusts to ambient temperatures to be softer/more breathable in warmer weather and stiffer/more wind-resistant in cold conditions.

Waxed canvas has slightly waxy feel and gets a rugged mottled look with use. The surface shows creases and marks easily, contributing to the character of the fabric. If you prefer, you can minimize it by applying heat from a hair dryer or keeping it in the sun.

The waxed canvas is manufactured with C4X wax. It is a high grade petroleum free and paraben free wax. There are no PFOA or formaldehydes in the wax compounds.

The inside of the bag is lined with a high quality organic hemp cotton fleece fabric. It is made from 55% hemp and 45% cotton. It is durable yet soft, just the thing to coddle your cameras and lenses.

These bags are made here on Whidbey Island by our own gordy's camera straps team. 

So how heavy a camera will these bags hold? The bag pictured below contains a Leica IIIa with three lenses with a Toyo 8x10 view camera hanging from it. That adds up to 13 pounds (5.8967 kg).
